Floodplain, Floodway Modelling, HEC-RAS Modelling for Nonconnah Creek, Shelby County Resiliency Project

Project Scope

Provide Hydrologic Engineering Centers River Analysis System (“HEC-RAS”) model of Noncannah Creek to determine the floodway floodplain as part of the Resiliency grant awarded to Shelby County from the U.S Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) . ABES was selected as part of a team to provide HEC-RAS modeling for the Noncannah Creek.

Scope of Services

ABES Engineering was responsible for determining the location of new stream cross-sections to be surveyed and prepare maps identifying locations to provide to surveyor. ABES developed the bridge data sheet template and created the bridge input data sheet from plans and survey data. ABES also processed surveyed channel sections and replaced old channel geometry in HEC-RAS model, revised channel bank stations, Manning’s, expansion and contraction coefficients, and ineffective and blocked flow areas. ABES also calibrates the model. ABES was responsible for coordinating meeting with teams involved in the project and key stakeholders including the City of Memphis, Shelby County, and TDOT and for preparing the executive report summary of efforts and results.
